Good News for Film Fans

Audio description is delivered through a headset, which is provided when you collect your ticket (you may have to pay a small, returnable deposit). The audio description will be running whenever a film is showing, so you should be able to attend any screening of films with audio description, and sit anywhere in the auditorium, just like anyone else.

It's a good idea to always phone the cinema before setting out, to make sure the film you want to see is showing in the same screen as the equipment, otherwise, even though the film may have audio description, you won’t be able to hear it if it's in the wrong screen.

During 2004, audio description was rolled out in a further 78 cinemas in England, part funded by the Film Council. Once this is completed, one in seven cinemas will be accessible to blind and partially sighted people. Warner Brothers have commited to describe all their films in 2004 and 2005. We are already seeing some of these descriptions going through onto the DVD release.

Question: My local cinema has three screens that are Audio Description enabled, but they only show films with Audio Description for two weeks. Why is that?
